FAB is the home for Dr. Croff's translational research program. The lab investigates how family environments, adversity, addiction, health behaviors, and community context interact to influence brain development, mental health, and wellbeing across the lifespan.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the FAB Lab conducts observational and randomized controlled clinical trials, cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, clinical and community-based research, and implementation science focused on improving health where people live, learn, and receive care. Projects span maternal and child health, substance use, nutrition, resilience, and behavioral interventions, with an emphasis on translating scientific discovery into practical solutions that improve lives.
Community engagement is central to the FAB Lab's approach. Partnerships with healthcare systems, schools, community organizations, and public agencies ensure that research reflects the needs of the populations it serves while expanding opportunities for participation among rural and historically underrepresented communities.
